Opening - "Goose Creek, The Four Seasons"
Paintings by H.K. Anne | American Landscape Artist"Goose Creek, Route 15, Early Spring 2014, Leesburg, Virginia," Oil on Canvas, 45" X 58"
Artists have long used the landscape as a metaphor for individual's journey through life. I always enjoy Joseph Campbell's passage from The Hero’s Journey,
"You enter the forest at the darkest point, where there is no path. Where there is a way or path, it is someone else's path. You are not on your own path. If you follow someone else's way, you are not going to realize your potential."
My exhibit covers my interpretation of the four seasons over the span of 2012 through 2015. Hopefully the viewers will be able to put themselves in these landscapes and be reminded of their own journeys -- sometimes the view is murky; sometimes pleasant and colorful; often the view is obstructed; and at other times clear blue, crisp and sharp.
The important take away is that it is a journey - sometimes easy and sometimes not – but a journey, nonetheless. Try to enjoy it.
