Intensive Short Courses in Energy Technologies & Policies for Working Professionals

Classes taught at the GW Virginia Science and Technology Campus (VSTC)

February 1, 2013

The GW VSTC is offering a new series of short, intensive, non-credit courses on energy topics to meet the needs of energy professionals who wish to increase their knowledge and skill set. The courses are taught by GW Professor Stephen Hsu using curriculum materials from the existing Energy Engineering Graduate Certificate Program.

This new program includes 2-and 5-day courses that will help develop skill sets for dealing with energy projects and issues. Increase your understanding of energy technologies and policies with the help of an instructor that has been on the cutting edge of the industry for many years in both government and university positions.

The first 2-day course offering will focus on Renewable Energies with On-site Applications held April 11-12, 2013 (Thursday and Friday). This course will introduce the latest in renewable technologies. Participants will learn practical application and technology viability. Topics covered will include solar energy, geothermal systems, wind energy, fuel cells and case studies. Cost will be $650 and includes daily coffee and lunch.

Week-long classes will be held during the summer months and will cover the topics of Energy Efficient Building Technology and On-site Energy Production, a general survey course called What’s New in Energy Technology, and Energy Efficient Transportation and Biofuels.
