GW Cyber Academy Open House & Demonstration

You're invited to an open house for the GW Cyber Academy, which provides state of the art degrees, certified training and applied research that address the nation's workforce needs in cybersecurity. The Academy offers a "one-stop-shop" approach to government agencies, private companies and military branches that are interested in working in collaboration with academia to solve contemporary cybersecurity problems and to prepare them to address emerging and evolving threats.

During the open house, cyber experts will:

  • Demonstrate a hands-on SCADA attack/defense
  • Discuss a recent Defense Information Systems Agency simulation

Faculty and staff will also provide information on GW's:

  • Master's and Bachelor's degree programs
  • Cyber warfare training courses
  • Customized training programs for corporate partners

Special Guest Speaker:

R. Admiral (ret.) Norman Hayes, Former Director of Intelligence, EUCOM (J-2), will present a perspective on big picture challenges related to cybersecurity and examine current gaps in the federal space.

Speakers and demonstrations by:

  • Joel Ucciardi, Director of Intelligence Community Initiatives and the Director of the CYBERFORCE SUPERIORITY Educational Program at Raytheon Solipsys and former Navy CRYPTO, will present on Cyberforce Superiority®, a comprehensive and holistic approach to cyber education, integrating key aspects of cyber offense, defense and forensics. 
     
  • Drs. John Saunders, Principal Cyber Security Engineer at the MITRE Corporation and Professor Emeritus in Cyber Security at the National Defense University’s (NDU) iCollege and Marwan Jamal, Chief Technology Officer of the NDU iCollege, will talk about the GW Cyber Academy Cybersecurity Laboratory environment and provide a demonstration of reverse engineering an attack on a piece of critical infrastructure.
     
  • Colonel (Ret) Marc Jamison consults on Cyber Security, Strategy and Operations for his own company Cyber CheckMate Consultants. Colonel Jamison will talk about how the Cyber Warfare Strategy and Planning course provides the advanced skills needed for the dynamic domain of cyber. Learn how to strategize, plan and lead organizations through the contested cyber environment. Hear about GW University’s unique five-day Cyber Operations/Cyber Warfare boot camp course.
     
  • Connie Uthoff, Assistant Program Director, Strategic Cyber Operation and Information Management Program at George Washington University and recipient of a Congressional Medal of Distinction Award. Connie will present a recent cyber simulation done for the Defense Information Systems Agency. This training was aimed at current and emerging leaders and took participants through an attack scenario aimed at manipulating US Command and Control. Hear Connie discuss how this type of training can be adapted to address strengths and gaps in any organization. 
     
  • Frederic Lemieux, co-founder of the GW Cyber Academy, program director for the master's degree in Homeland security,master's degree in cybersecurity strategy and information management, and the bachelor's degree in police and security studies at GW. He has published six books and is currently conducting studies on cyber defense and intelligence sharing on cyber threats. He will close the program with information on the undergraduate, graduate and certification programs in Cybersecurity available through George Washington University’s Virginia Science and Technology Campus.
