Department of Computer Science
The Department of Computer Science offers a master's in Computer Science, a master's in Cybersecurity in Computer Science, and a graduate certificate in Computer Security and Information Assurance at The George Washington University Virginia Science and Technology Campus. Courses in the graduate certificate program are fully transferable to either master's program. Our faculty members conduct cutting-edge research in a number of areas and applications of computer science and collaborate with other researchers in academia, industry and government. The department emphasizes creative solutions to real-world problems.
Computer Science, M.S.
This 10-course, 30-credit-hour program allows students to "create their own path." Students are required to take three core courses. An additional seven courses, of the students' choosing within the department (and in special circumstances outside of the department) combine to create an exceptional learning experience.
Cybersecurity in Computer Science, M.S.
Like the master's degree in Computer Science, this is also a 10-course, 30-credit-hour program. Students are required to take three computer science core courses and one security course, and to choose four additional security courses from a list of security courses, and have two elective courses they can choose from any technical areas, to create an exceptional learning experience.
Computer Security and Information Assurance, Graduate Certificate
This graduate program is a four-course, 12-credit-hour program. It is designed as an alternative to the full master’s program. However, once a student completes the certificate, all four courses can be transferred to the Master of Science in Computer Science.
