Twenty-one high school seniors graduated from the George Washington University Online High School program, now in its second year. They celebrated their accomplishments with a prom on Friday and graduation ceremonies on Saturday at GW’s Virginia Science & Technology Campus.

GO GIRL (Genomic Opportunities for Girls In Research Labs) is an educational outreach program designed to provide a unique opportunity for young women interested in gaining hands-on laboratory experience in molecular biology and genomics. An annual program designed for rising 10th, 11th, and 12 grade young women from Loudoun County Public Schools, this year's one-week summer program will run from June 10-13 and is free of charge for participants. Applications are due by May 3.

Tarek El-Ghazawi, a professor in GW's Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the School of Engineering and Applied Science (SEAS), has been awarded a Humboldt Research Award, a prestigious international research award given by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation in Bonn, Germany, for excellence in his field.

The university, in partnership with U.S. Rep. Frank Wolf, R-Va., hosted the 10th District Congressional Art Show March 21 through April 22, 2013. The exhibit, displayed at the GW Virginia Science and Technology Campus (VSTC), featured more than 325 works by nearly 200 area high school students, representing 23 schools from the 10th Congressional District. Geographic representation included Loudoun, Clarke, and Fredrick Counties, as well as parts of Fairfax and Prince William Counties, and the cities of Manassas, Manassas Park, and Winchester.

The National Crash Analysis Center (NCAC) received $106,000 in funding from the German automotive manufacturer consortium Working Group AK 251 to assess the real world safety trade-offs of the belted vs. unbelted occupant testing requirements of FMVSS 208, the U.S. standard on occupant crash protection in frontal crashes.
