Leaders around the globe are becoming increasingly concerned with cyber security issues. Attacks, like those on Target, Sony and the US government’s Office of Personnel Management, are multiplying and becoming more sophisticated. Companies and government agencies need to prevent financial loss and identify theft, as well as protect their public images when breaches happen.

These trends are stimulating an increased demand for skilled cybersecurity professionals among private employers, governments and non-profits. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts an increase of almost 650,000 cybersecurity jobs by 2022. To keep pace with this trend, GW’s College of Professional Studies (CPS) is offering a new bachelor’s degree completion and second bachelor’s degree program in cybersecurity. The Cybersecurity bachelor’s degree is intended for students with associates or non-technical  bachelor’s degrees who are looking for entry level positions and advancement in the field of security.

Some of the benefits of GW’s Cybersecurity program include:

  • Expert Faculty. The instructors are nationally and internationally recognized experts in the fields of cybersecurity and information management, and bring first-hand experience and real-life scenarios to the classroom.
  • Cutting-Edge Curriculum.  A technical and hands-on curriculum utilizing state-of-the-art computer labs and  virtual environments.
  • Designated Federal Center for Academic Excellence in Information Assurance Research. GW has been designated a Federal Center for Academic Excellence in Information Assurance Research by the National Security Agency and the Department of Homeland Security.
  • Affordable. GW offers competitive tuition rates rates.
  • Convenient Classes. Courses are scheduled to meet the needs of working professionals and are offered evenings and weekends at GW’s Virginia Science & Technology Campus in Ashburn, Virginia.

The new bachelor’s degree in cybersecurity is offered under the umbrella of the growing GW Cyber Academy, which provides state-of-the-art degrees, certified training and applied research to address the nation's workforce needs in cybersecurity.
