Solving the Proton Radius Puzzle

Three of GW’s physics faculty, Evie Downie, William Briscoe and Andrei Afanasev, are leading the way in solving the “Proton Radius Puzzle,” along with more than 45 researchers from around the globe participating in the MUon proton Scattering Experiment (MUSE) Collaboration. GW was awarded a $277,000, 18-month grant in July 2014 from the Department of Energy (DOE) and the National Science Foundation (NSF).

Back to School: New Academic Year Kicks Off

The 2014-2015 academic year officially began on August 25th and brought with it a distinctly new feel to the Virginia Science and Technology Campus. Innovation Hall is now home to over 180 accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing students from the GW School of Nursing (SON) and 150 pharmacy doctoral students through our partnership with Shenandoah University.

“Now, therefore, be it resolved that the Loudoun Country Board of Supervisors hereby commends The George Washington University’s Virginia Science and Technology Campus on its 20th anniversary; and expresses its gratitude to the University for its contribution to the economy of Loudoun County and for educating its citizens to fill jobs of the twenty-first century.”
