GW School of Nursing to Host White Coat Ceremony

August 28, 2014

The George Washington University School of Nursing (SON) will host a pilot white coat ceremony. The ceremony emphasizes the importance of providing compassionate, patient-centered care to new nursing students and formalizes the students’ commitment to do so. Similar to white coat ceremonies at medical schools, GW SON students will recite an oath, receive a white coat, hear a leadership address by the school’s founding Dean Jean Johnson and attend a reception.

Virginia Secretary of Education Anne Holton to Attend GW Science, Technology and Engineering Day

Nearly 130 high school students from Loudoun County Public Schools will spend a day on the George Washington University’s Virginia Science and Technology Campus (VSTC) in Ashburn, Va., experiencing hands-on workshops designed to illustrate areas of research and careers in science, technology and engineering fields.

GW Hosts Discussion on Health Information, Big Data and Quality of Care

The George Washington University Virginia Science and Technology Campus (VSTC) and School of Nursing (SON) will co-host “Health Information, Big Data and Quality of Care.” The discussion features Judy Murphy, deputy national coordinator for programs and policy at the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT, Department of Health and Human Services in Washington, D.C.
