Tropical Storm Warning, Flash Flood Watch & Safety Precautions

National Weather Service has issued a Tropical Storm Warning for the District of Columbia & Metropolitan Area as of Friday, Aug. 26th 2011.The area may experience rain and high winds of 39-74 MPH and possibly flash flooding. Engineering Professor Pedro Silva answers questions about earthquakes, if they can be predicted and what to do when faced with one.  STORY

Dr. Silva is a researcher in the Earthquake Engineering and Structure Laboratory on the Virginia Campus. The laboratory features one of the most sophisticated earthquake simulators of its kind in the nation.

Statement Regarding GW Operations Due to Earthquake
