"Go Girl" Program Recently Completed

An interactive camp, known as the “Go GIRL” Program, provides Loudoun County female high school students with a wealth of career ideas by exposing them to molecular biology and genomics. A free program, it is a partnership between The GW School of Medicine and Health Sciences, the Bernard J. Young women (rising 10th, 11th, or 12th graders) have a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in molecular biology and genomics. This opportunity is made possible through a partnership between The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences, the Bernard J. Dunn School of Pharmacy at Shenandoah University, Loudoun County Public Schools, and supported in part by a generous grant from Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI). The program runs June 21-25, 2010.

Members of the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) learned about driving simulator vehicle and behavior research taking place in the Center for Intelligent Systems Research (CISR), such as the effects of drowsiness and distractions on driving. Following a presentation, attendees had the opportunity to drive for themselves.
