More than 100 friends and relatives filled a large classroom as 17 members of the first Bachelor of Science in Nursing cohort participated in the first Pinning Ceremony held at the GW Virginia Science and Technology Campus by the new School of Nursing. Guest speaker for the event was Susan Hassmiller, Special Advisor on Nursing to the President of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.

The GW School of Nursing hosted a pinning ceremony to mark the completion of its first Bachelor of Science class within the newly-established school. Seventeen students took part in the ceremony.

"I'm glad that George Washington University's presence in the Commonwealth is growing stronger," said Virginia Secretary of Education Gerard Robinson, who spoke at the official opening of the lab on Sept. 13, at the GW Virginia Scieince and Technology Campus. The event showcased the new 3000-square-foot nursing simulation lab and the $23,000 in equipment contributed by Reston Hospital Center, HCA Virginia. The gift allowed for an expansion of the lab and increased the expanded educational resources offered by the school.

The new schedule will offer more commuting flexibility. The shuttle, servicing WFC metro, is free for GW staff, faculty, and students. The general public rides for $1.75.
